This after he pleaded not guilty to charges of assault with GBH, attempted murder and arson.

He is facing 10 counts ranging from intimidation, violation of protection order, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, as well as the attempted murder of his mamazala in Songeni Village outside Thulamahashe near Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga on September 9 2022.

His victim and mamazala, Emita Sihlangu (49), said they were happy with the court's decision.

"We're really satisfied with the court's hefty sentence. It's a big lesson for him so he can change from his bad morals," she said.

Emita was at her home in Songeni Village when the accused violently attacked her with a panga as he was demanding to see his baby mama.

The victim's brother, Thomas Sihlangu (56), said in 2022 the accused would harass the entire family, even threaten to kill them.
