MEC Sasekani Manzini welcomes two Christmas babies born at Middelburg Hospital

Manzini was speaking during her visit to Middelburg Hospital in Nkangala District where she commended all health workers, especially midwives in all three districts of the province for delivering a total of thirty healthy babies so far.

"We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and announce that the first Christmas baby has been born at Tonga Hospital in Nkomazi District. The female baby was born at 12.07am.

"Middelburg Hospital has delivered three Christmas babies so far and we are here to celebrate the day with the babies and their mums. We are also proud that no stillbirths have been reported so far. This is because we are making good progress in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates, maternal and women's health and the utilisation of children's hospitals. The efficiency of hospitals shows that we are on the right track to ensure that our population continues to receive desirable healthcare," she said.

She said three babies were born at the community health clinics, while two babies were born at Mapulaneng, three at Tintswalo, three at Shongwe, three at Piet Retief and one at KwaMhlanga Hospitals - 15 boys and 14 gitsl.
