AN evil son has been sentenced for raping his mother.
On Thursday, 29 February, the Moretele Regional Court sentenced a 31-year-old man to 20 years of direct imprisonment for raping his 60-year-old mother.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) regional spokesman Henry Mamothame said the shocking incident happened at their home at Stinkwater near Moretele on the evening of 17 July 2021, when he found his mother cooking in the kitchen.
"He dragged her to the bedroom and raped her. Shortly after this ordeal, the son's mother managed to escape and reported the matter to his younger sister. They then proceeded to report the matter to the police. He was arrested on 18 July 2021, and the court denied him bail. He pleaded guilty to the offence," said Mamothane.
