SOWETO residents and pupils from different schools gathered to celebrate the lives of the two boys who were brutally murdered.
Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane also attended the memorial service of the learners from Isiseko Primary School, Mduduzi Nqobizitha Zulu and Tshiamo Amogelang Rabanye, in Soweto, whose mutilated bodies were found last week Thursday, 20 April.
Teachers, friends and loved ones gathered to celebrate the lives of the two boys, even though it was hard.
Nqobizitha's teacher, Thokozile Manyathela, said she was very broken to learn about the kids' deaths. She said these deaths brought pain to her and the whole school.
"I still don't understand how a sane human being would do such a vile thing," she said.
Thokozile described Nqobizitha as a hard-working young man who was always eager to learn new things.
"We'd like the families to know that they're not alone. We've also lost gems," said Thokozile.
Traditional healer Oscar Besi said he's disgusted by the people who kill pretending to be sangomas.

He said he doesn't blame the community for being angry at sangomas because no one teaches them the difference between sangomas and witches.
"We need to start teaching each other these things so the community understands that we're here to heal, not to kill," he said.
MEC Chiloane cautioned the culture of lawlessness in society, emphasising that police resources will not be spared in hunting down the perpetrators.
He said a lot of work needs to be done for kids to live in a safe environment.
"The death of these kids has left us all heartbroken, and we won't rest until justice is served," he said.
He said the department is happy with the developments from the police with the arrests that they have made.
The family of the two young boys have expressed their gratitude to residents for supporting their families as they go through the most challenging time of their lives.
A family representative, Mkhulu Sifiso Nkosi, said that the candlelight prayer with this memorial service brought some relief for both families.
The little ones are set to be laid to their final resting place on Friday.
