THE embattled mayor of the Kopanong Municipality in the Free State, Xolani Tseletsele has apologised to the victim he allegedly threatened.
This comes after a video emerged this week on social media showing Tseletsele allegedly threatening a resident at a private home.
In the video, the fuming mayor is seen lashing out at the resident in front of children. It's alleged that the resident complained to the mayor about potholes on Facebook.
Tseletsele's ANC membership has since been temporarily suspended after his actions.
In the video, Tseletsele can be heard saying: "You talk too much. Don't do that again."
In a statement seen by Daily Sun, Tseletse apologised and said the incident happened on 5 November.

The video made rounds on Facebook and WhatsApp groups in the past weeks.
Tseletse further apologised to the community of Jagersfontein, where he cut his political activism.
He said the video resurfaced on Monday, 20 November, on X (formerly Twitter).
“On Tuesday, 21 November, myself and the person I confronted went to Lesedi FM, and both of us told the public. We had sorted the issue and we reapologised for our actions.
“I take note of one’s responsibility of being a public figure, that one requirement one should possess is the intelligence to be above any form of provocation and one has no right to harm or attack anyone,” he said.
Daily Sun couldn’t reach the man who was allegedly threatened by Tseletse for comment.
ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula ordered Tseletsele's suspension and disciplinary proceedings for his behaviour, stating that such actions undermine the dignity of the people and tarnish the party's integrity.
