MPUMALANGA police have launched a manhunt after a woman (46) was brutally shot and killed, allegedly by her husband, at Pineridge in Witbank on Sunday, 4 December.

Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said they couldn’t rule out that the incident could be related to domestic violence.

“The couple was allegedly in a separation, and the woman was shot while collecting items from the house,” he said, adding that the suspect fled the scene after the incident.

“Upon arrival, cops found the body of a woman in the bedroom with bullet wounds, as well as the suspect’s son (23). Paramedics certified the woman dead at the scene,” he said.

He further said the police opened a murder case, which is under investigation.

“Police are in pursuit of the suspect. Investigators believe that Doctor Marole may assist. He is urged to contact the police as soon as possible,” he said.

Mpumalanga commissioner Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Manamela has condemned the incident and urged community members to refrain from using violence to resolve disputes.

“Life and challenges are inseparable. It’s advisable to seek professional help whenever one undergoes challenges in relationships. Violence can never be an alternative,” she said.

Anyone with information regarding Marole’s whereabouts should contact Detective Sergeant Kgotso Mojahi on 082 3520 875, or CrimeStop on 08600 10111.
