WOMAN BUST FOR FALSE RAPE ACCUSATIONS!

accreditation

CASES of rape in Mzansi are high, and cops are working hard to deal with the scourge.

But the opening of false cases under the pretence of rape is taking cops backwards as important resources get exhausted for nothing.

A 28-year-old woman learnt the hard way when she was remanded in custody for opening a false rape case.

It’s alleged that on 11 February at 9pm, the woman was asleep in a house at B Section in Osizweni, KZN, when she heard someone opening the door.

Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said the woman alleged that a known suspect carrying a knife entered and accused her of not paying rent. She then accused the man, together with his brother, of raping her.

“Charges of rape were opened at Osizweni SAPS. The brothers, aged 34 and 36, were arrested. Following intensive investigation, it was established that the complainant lied under oath,” Gwala said in a statement.

The brothers were then released.

Gwala said a case of perjury was opened for investigation and the woman was charged.

“She appeared in the Madadeni Magistrates Court on Monday, 14 February. She was remanded in custody pending the next court date,” she said.

Gwala urged people to refrain from reporting false cases as valuable police resources were being wasted chasing untrue allegations, thus depriving genuine victims of realising justice.
