THERE was a lot of festivities when the Sekgopo Traditional Council celebrated the improvement of its 2023 matric results.

The traditional council held the ceremony to award all four high schools and the matriculants who performed well in their final exams.

The schools received certificates and trophies for its improvement. Motsheudi High School was awarded for being the most improved school.

The aim was to also encourage the 2024 matric pupils to study hard.

Motivational speaker and Sekgopo Rural Development Agency chairman, Mabilu Mokwalakwala, urged the 2024 matric pupils to work hard and continue to raise standards.

"We congratulate those who were awarded and urge 2024 matric pupils to work harder to improve the results," he said.

Mopani West Education district director, Paulina Modika said the four schools contributed 38% to the district.

"We're the most improved district in the province. There's no under-performing school in this village," she said.

"We can't allow a situation where pupils learn physical science with mathematics literacy because this might not allow them a university entrance," said Modika.
