AFTER realising that many parents were left broke after the festive season, Nora Maela (34), Mphuti Mojela (35), and Mohlekhu Phaswana (33) gathered women so they could find a solution.
The ladies from extension 71 in Seshego outside Polokwane, Limpopo, then decided to start the Amogelang Ladies Club in 2015, which they could use to save money.
The club now has 34 members.
Each member contributes R350 monthly, and they bank it.
Their hard work finally paid off on Wednesday, 13 December, when they each received their groceries.
They said the grocery will sustain them for the next six months.
All the members were overjoyed and ululating as they saw a truck full of their groceries.

Norah told Daily Sun that they sometimes loan some of the money to members during the year.
“When a member has taken money, each R100 taken must be paid back with an extra R20 interest. The interest collected goes towards buying more groceries. We started the club so we could be able to enjoy the festive season, enjoying good food with our families,” she said.
Mphuti said they buy their groceries in bulk.
"The groceries we bought will last my family for at least 8 months. Now I know I will not stress about food for many months to come. I will now be able to focus on other things."
The groceries include food, toiletries and meat.
Mohlekhu told the SunTeam that starting the club was the best thing they had done.
“Some people think we are stupid when we contribute money each month, but when we are sharing our groceries, they start wishing they were us,” she said.
They said they will not leave the club as they have witnessed its importance for over six years.
Tlou Matlamala (33) said when the club started, they were contributing R150.
“The money has increased as things are expensive. I have a family of seven, and the grocery is taking care of all of us. I’m happy."
Lesedi Mampa (28) joined the club in 2019.
“I’m not going hungry because of the club,” she said.
Others said they would now save and use some money they used to buy groceries during the year on other things, while others said they would enjoy their money.
