THE postponement Eric Mundalamo's murder case has raised concerns.
Funanani Mbedzi (45) was allegedly shot and killed during a church service at Makonde Shadani Village. It's reported that the former Worship House lead singer, who was in the process of filing for divorce, was killed while she was singing with other worshippers.
After the incident, Mundalamo (54), a well-known teacher, disappeared without a trace since Saturday, 30 March. He handed himself over to the police on Tuesday, 2 April.
Mundalamo appeared in the Thohoyandou Magistrates Court in Limpopo on Wednesday, 3 April. His legal representative asked the court to refer him for mental observation.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Funanani's uncle, Fhatuwani Mphephu, said they hope he gets justice.
“We're happy the state denied the accused's request for mental observation. We believe these are tricks. As they said, they're busy with the investigation. What we want justice,” he said.

On Friday, 5 April, the Dr Tshenuwani Farisani Foundation called on the court to deny the accused bail and dismiss his claim for temporary insanity and try him for murder.
Dr Tshenuwani Farisani said: "Our women can't continue to be maimed and abused by men who later claim temporary insanity. We'll always be there for the downtrodden, women and children in their time of need.”
Chief executive of the foundation, Kenny Mathivha called on all peace-loving Vhembe citizens to support the family and Funanani's children.
“The foundation also congratulates the swift move by Vhembe District Municipality, together with all local municipalities for helping the family with psychosocial assistance,” he said.
Limpopo police spokesman, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said Mundalamo’s case was postponed to 10 June for a formal bail application.
“This after the suspect handed himself to the police on Monday afternoon. It's reported that the suspect entered the premises on Saturday, 30 March, while the congregation was engaged in worship and callously fired multiple shots at the victim, resulting in her death,” said Ledwaba.
