A LIMPOPO woman, Pfano Mpofo, from Mangumane Village in Limpopo, was allegedly killed by her husband.

The 29-year-old wife died on Monday morning, 26 February, during a dispute over their children.

It's alleged that the couple used to live together in Matsika Village, but conflicts led to the wife's return to her family's home in 2023.

Family spokeswoman Magret Mpaphuli told Daily Sun that the wife had confided in them about the mistreatment by her husband.

"We're deeply saddened by how she died, leaving behind two children. We hope the police will swiftly track the suspect down and bring him to justice," she said.

Vhembe police spokesman Sergeant Vuledzani Dathi confirmed the incident.

"They rushed to the crime scene and found the victim lying on a gravel road, bleeding heavily from the head. Despite efforts by emergency services, she was declared dead, having sustained multiple stab wounds to the head and face," said Dathi.

Dathi added that all necessary stakeholders were informed to attend the crime scene.

"The suspect, Avhurengwi Mukhathi, fled after committing the crime, and our dedicated police force is actively engaged in tracing him," said Dathi.

Dathi urged anyone who could assist the police in arresting the suspect to contact them.
