THE unhappy mum of brutally killed Katleho Bereng has lost hope following the unexpected withdrawal of charges against three accused in the Thabo Bester saga on Wednesday, 11 October.
The devastated Monica Matsie, with Katlego's father Batho Mpholo, were seen in court and looked disgusted when the state prosecutor announced that charges would be dropped against Natassja Jansen, Thabang Mier and Moeketsi Ramolula.
Monica has questioned the state on how it could be possible to drop charges of former G4S members while her child's killers weren't formally identified and charged with orchestrated murder, kidnapping and arson.
"I'm extremely disturbed. I hope the matter will be handled well by the high court, and truth be told. It's painful to lose a child in such a horrific manner, and justice doesn't dig deep on who killed Katleho," she said.

The remaining accused include former G4S supervisor Senowe Matsoara, Dr Nandipha Magudumana's father Zolile Sekeleni, security guard Motanyane Masukela, technician Teboho Lipholo, control officer Tieho Makhotsa, Zimbabwean foreign national Zanda Moyo, Joel Makhetha, Bester and his girlfriend, Dr Magudumana.
The notorious Facebook rapist and murderer Bester formed part of the accused in the highly anticipated court appearance in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 11 October.
Bester has beefed up his legal representative with other experienced lawyers.
The case has been transferred to the Free State High Court, and the accused will be back in the dock on 21 February 2024.
About 20 witnesses are expected to testify during the trial.
Bester, Dr Magudumana and Moyo will be kept in jail, waiting for the outcome of the court.
