THE Jobe Foundation has created job opportunities for Duduza, Ekurhuleni, residents.
The foundation, which gives food and school uniforms to primary and secondary schools pupils in the area, has opened the Jobe Confectionery Store.
Jobe Foundation founder Sphiwe Sithole said the opening of the shop has created job opportunities. He said he was also proud to give back to the community he grew up in.
"It'll make it easier for people to shop closer to home. We've employed six people and if more jobs are created in the coming months, it'll give people a boost. Don't forget where you come from and work with the community. The most important thing is to help Duduza reclaim its glory days when residents used to own businesses," he said.

Nompi Sithole, Sphiwe's mum, said her son showed entrepreneurial skills at a young age.
"He was a hustler when he was young and used to collect dry clean for a certain company in the township to make money. In his 20s, he bought clothes in Joburg and sold them. It's no surprise that he opened a business that will uplift the community forward," Nompi said.
Sbu Dludlu, a local artist, said the opening of the shop will empower the community.
"We need such initiatives that promote local businesses," Sbu said.
Another resident, Themba Gumbi said: "The opening of the shop will open many doors for businesspeople to build businesses in our neighbourhoods. If you look around here and in other townships, shops that were previously owned by South Africans are no longer operational. We need to encourage shop ownership."
