THE IFP is praying for safe and free elections.
The party's president, Velenkosini Hlabisa, called for political tolerance in the upcoming elections.
He also urged voters to exercise their right to vote as this is the crucial election that must change their lives and the state of this country.
Hlabisa spoke to several party members during the launch of the Mthonjaneni constituency office in Melmoth, KZN on Friday, 23 February.
Hlabisa said the IFP condemns the scene displayed during the recent by-elections in Pongola, also in KZN, where two parties clashed over the placement of their gazebo.
“The matter of fact is that when people vote, they already have the party or the person they will vote for. So, even if you fight to have your gazebo beside the gate, it won’t make any changes. People will vote for you even if you are far from the gate,” said Hlabisa.

He said people are street-smart and know what they want.
“We encourage all the parties to be tolerant of each other. This is a crucial election because it's about rebuilding our country. We're battling with load shedding, crime and poverty.”
Hlabisa also urged politicians not to force people to vote for them, but to let them vote for a party they believe in and have seen working.
He also congratulated the Mthonjaneni members for a state-of-the-art office.
The launch was attended by several executive party members, including the new Zulu prime minister, Thulasizwe Buthelezi.
Buthelezi said the office must be a beacon of hope that the party is growing.
“This will make sure that the party is always visible to this community. This is where we'll hold the party's special meetings,” he said.
