IT has been a long, sleepless two weeks for Zanele Mahlangu (36).
She said her phone has been ringing off the hook with men offering to sleep with her... but only if she pays them!
Zanele from Cosmo City extension 6, north of Joburg, said the unending nightmare was caused by her ex-lover who told the nation on TV that she was paying him to sleep with her.
Zanele wrote to a TV show to ask for help to get her money and clothes back from her ex-lover, Hope Ndlovu (25).
She said when they were dating last September, Hope asked to buy clothes using her clothing account.
“I agreed because he promised to pay the instalments,” she said.
She said in October, Hope came to her with a promising business opportunity, which required her to fork out R15 000.
“He told me he wanted us to start a business delivering goods and he saw a car that we could buy,” she said.
The car cost R30 000 and she would have to fork out half for her share in the business.
“I gave him R15 000 but when he was supposed to buy the car, he started telling me stories,” she said.
Zanele said when she asked about the instalment for the clothes, he gave her more stories.
She said they broke up in December.
“He told me he will pay me once he started working. He said he had found a job as a delivery man but the car he is supposed to be using had a clutch problem and asked that I loan him R2 000.
“I gave him the money hoping he would pay me back when the car was fixed, but he didn’t,” she said.
Zanele said after realising that Hope was not planning to pay her, she thought getting help from a TV show would help but things turned nasty for her when Hope told everyone that he was not dating her, but he was her prostitute.
“I was so shocked when he made those allegations. I got some of my stuff from him but my name and reputation has been ruined by him.
“I loved him so I trusted him when he wanted stuff from me. I would never pay a man to sleep with me,” she said.
Zanele pleaded with men to stop calling her and harassing her.
Hope told Daily Sun they never dated. He said he was servicing her.
“She was paying my rent and buying stuff for me and all I had to do was to sleep with her,” he said.
Zanele’s sister Zamani Mahlangu said the two were dating and that Hope was bitter.
