A HEAD-ON crash between a Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Tazz led to the tragic loss of six young lives on Saturday morning, 1 July.
The accident happened near La Havana Park in Malamulele, Limpopo.
Acting Department of Limpopo Transport spokesman, Mafenya Lediga, said reports indicate that drunk and reckless driving may have been the possible cause of the accident.
"According to the reports, four people perished at the scene, and two passed away at the hospital," said Lediga.
Elias Chauke, a family member of one of the victims, told Daily Sun that they're still in shock over the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
"We are trying to cope with the incident as there was no sign of sickness but an untimely death. We appreciate the social workers provided by the government who are offering comfort and support during these difficult times," said Chauke.

Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC Florence Radzilani extended her condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased.
The MEC has raised concerns about the number of accidents caused by human behaviour on the roads.
"Since the beginning of the year, Limpopo has reported numerous accidents resulting from the behaviour of our people. Many individuals tend to disregard road rules, leading to a rise in fatalities.
"I called upon safety promotion officials to develop strategies that will help prevent accidents during nighttime and early mornings," said Radzilani.
