A HIKER has allegedly slipped and drowned in a stream in Tshwane on Thursday, 21 March 2024.
According to Tshwane Emergency Services spokesman deputy chief Charles Mabaso, the incident happened around 12.30pm.
He said a body of a man aged between 25 and 30 years was recovered from a stream.
Mabaso said the City of Tshwane's Emergency Services Department was notified of a drowning incident at Nkwe Permaculture in Tierpoort, east of Tshwane.
"Divers and rescue technicians from the Emergency Services Department arrived on the scene to be told that a man aged between 25 and 30 years of age had allegedly slipped and fell from a rock into the stream while he was hiking with a friend," said Mabaso.

"Divers searched and recovered the man's body. He was declared dead by paramedics on the scene,” he said.
Emergency Services warned residents to be mindful of theirs and the safety of others when they are visiting recreational facilities.
"The scene was handed over to the South African Police Service for further investigation."
Tshwane District Police spokesman, Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk, said: "An inquest case is investigated to determine circumstances of the death."
