To register, candidates are required to visit their respective districts.

The department highlighted that getting a second chance to write the matric exams has its benefits such as:

  • Candidates are able to meet the requirements of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or extended Senior Certificate and obtain a grade 12 matric certificate
  • Increasing learner retention
  • Increasing computer skills, job opportunities and career pathing
Candidates are able to access bursary opportunities for further studies

Gauteng Education spokesman, Steve Mabona said the following candidates may register:

  • Candidates who previously wrote NSC examination
  • Candidates may only register subjects they wrote previously, which have to comply with internal assessments and oral and practical assessment task requirements (for subjects with practical components)
  • Candidates are not allowed to register new subjects.
