THE 2023 matriculants were writing history paper one on Thursday, 2 November.

Olievenhoutbosch Secondary School pupils say they are thrilled after they wrote well.

Mahuma Phoshoko (19) enjoyed writing the essays.

“I wrote well, and I enjoyed questions 1, 4, and 6. They focused on essays about the Vietnam War and the Black Power Movement. I was ready to face anything because what we wrote about is what we have been learning since January,” she said.

Tebogo Machaka (18) said she would like to study law when she is done with exams.

She said she’s looking forward to writing mathematics on Friday, 3 November.

Lerato Khambule (19) said she was also satisfied with her performance.

“I think I did well, and I could answer essay questions,” she said.

“I would like to do an LLB Degree or Social Work. If it doesn’t work out, I will start looking for a job,” she said.

Elizabeth Molebatse (17) from Seshegong Secondary School in Olievenhoutbosch said she expects a distinction.

“I outdid myself. Maybe I will get a distinction, hoping history paper two also has positive outcomes,” she said.

Morufa Mmatle (18) said she faced hurdles.

“I wrote very nicely, but I struggled with some of the questions, but I managed to fight back. I hope to get level 5, and I hope paper two has messy on us because history and English will help me to be a lawyer,” she said.

In the North West metrics from Johane Mokolobetsi Secondary School in Bapong, Brits said the paper was easy.

Koketso Mokhutso (19) said it was a walk in the park. Even though she was panicking, she managed to finish on time.

She said they were also grateful to the teachers who helped them prepare for the exams.

Kagiso Tlou said the paper was easy because he worked hard to prepare for it.

“It was everything that I was expecting,” said Kagiso.
