The Hawks in Limpopo are now looking for suspects who robbed and killed a Fidelity security guard.

VILLAGERS went on a frenzy as they picked up money following a cash-in-transit heist.

This comes after armed suspects ambushed and robbed a Fidelity security guard vehicle.

The Hawks in Limpopo have now launched a massive manhunt for the suspects who robbed and killed a Fidelity security guard on Saturday, 25 November.

The guards were driving on the R37 road near Thokgwaneng Village in the Mecklenburg police area when their armoured vehicle was rammed by a Mercedes-Benz and forced to stop.

Limpopo Hawks spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Matimba Maluleke said the suspects allegedly fired shots at the armoured vehicle before they robbed the guards and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

"The suspects allegedly used a silver BMW 3 series as their getaway vehicle," he said.

Maluleke said three guards were injured during the shooting and one of them died on the way to hospital.

"We are appealing to anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact Warrant Officer Mojapelo on 071 481 6876 or contact the nearest police station," he said.

Members of the public are warned not to tamper with the scene of crime as some of them reportedly picked up the money that was lying around.

The Hawks provincial head Major-General Gopz Govender has already ordered the investigation team to zealously hunt down the suspects and bring them to justice.
