ZINHLE Mdletshe has not been able to sleep since her two-month old son was kidnapped.

Little Lwazi was kidnapped from their home in Welbedacht area in Chatsworth, Durban on Saturday, 11 March by two unknown men.

Zinhle (30) said before the men stormed into their home, she heard a loud knock on the door, but ignored it.

"When the banging got louder and the men threatened to kick the door down, my brother Johnny (32) opened for them," she said.

She said the two men stormed in and told them they were with her nephew at a local tavern and that he stole booze from them.

"They demanded compensation. I told them we had nothing to do with drunken wars. I asked them why they didn't report my nephew directly to his mother.

"They claimed they had already visited her sister and she told them that the nephew was with her. We later found out he was sleeping at another relative's house. We saw that he wasn't at the tavern as we saw CCTV footage," she said.

Zinhle said one of the men pulled out a gun and held them hostage for more than 20 minutes, while the other one searched their home, saying he was looking for a way to hurt the nephew.

"In the end, the men took my baby and my cellphone, but left other valuable items. I keep asking myself why anyone would do this to me. I have never hurt anyone. I am poor, unemployed and have nothing to my name. I just want my baby back.

"The sad part is that my nephew doesn't know these people and he denied taking alcohol from anyone. I wish for my son to be found soon."

KZN police spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda said Chatsworth cops were appealing for help to find the baby.

"It is reported that armed suspects entered a home and robbed the family and grabbed the baby as they fled from the scene.

"Anyone with information is urged to contact Captain Mthembu on 082 567 4188, or CrimeStop on 08600 10111," he said.
