THE wife of a well-known Kariega businessman was abducted in broad daylight in yet another kidnapping in Gqeberha.
Nelson Mandela Bay police are concerned as kidnapping is fast becoming a trend.
This is the fourth kidnapping in the metro since the beginning of the year.
District Police Commissioner, Major General Vuyisile Ncata confirmed that Sonam Gajjar (34) was abducted outside her Mosel Road house in Kariega on Wednesday, 13 March.
General Ncata said police were tipped off about a kidnapping around 8am.
"It's alleged that the wife of a well-known businessman was taken by four suspects in a white Hyundai. Police are currently investigating a case of kidnapping. We're concerned as the police because any form of kidnapping and any form of crime is a painful experience.
"We need to be proactive in our approach and intensify police visibility around businesses to prevent business robbery and kidnapping," Ncata said.

He said the incident is more like a change in the method because Sonam was not kidnapped from the business but from home.
"That is why we must be proactive. We can't afford to have businesspeople kidnapped,” Ncata added.
The abduction of Sonam follows hard on the heels of Neal Ah Tow on 1 March outside his fishery business in Sidwell.
Before that, Zahor Bhayat was kidnapped from his Motherwell Hardware business on Tuesday, 23 January.
On the same day, another business owner, Godknows Chavazhinji (34), was kidnapped in Swartkops.
The suspects demanded R1 million for Bhayat and Chavazhinji.
Different amounts were demanded, ranging from R100 000. Eventually, both businesspeople were released.
Chavazhinji sustained injuries and no ransom was paid.
A ransom of R1 million was paid to secure Bhayat's freedom from his abductors.
