GOGO Elsie Windvoel (63) from Protea Glen, Soweto is seeking help in getting the right papers so she can get her Road Accident Fund (RAF) money after being in an accident.
She was involved in an accident on Tuesday, 1 February on a Metrobus going from Campus Square in Joburg to Protea Glen.
Approaching Helen Joseph Hospital, the bus hit a small vehicle as gogo Elsie was seated behind the driver.
Due to the speed the bus was travelling at, she had to hold onto the bars of the bus and ended up falling, hurting her waist and twisting her hip.
The pensioner, who works as a house helper, went to the clinic the next day, where the doctor took X-rays and said nothing was broken.
But the pain did not seem to get better and the gogo was unable to walk properly.
She was then referred to Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, where she started attending physio as they then discovered one of her veins had been twisted.
She attended physio from March and stopped in June due to lack of transport money.
“Metrobus have given me forms supposed to enable me to get RAF money. When I took the papers to the hospital for my doctor to sign, I found out they had signed the documents where the doctor is supposed to sign. I tried to communicate with Metrobus so they can try resolve the matter by issuing me with new papers that are properly signed. I even sent a voice note to a member of Metrobus expressing my frustrations. Unfortunately, all that was in vain,” she said.
Gogo said the whole ordeal affected her so much, as she is unable to do her best in her house helper duties while this case was dragging.
Metrobus marketing and communications specialist Goodwill Shivuri responded to the allegations, saying: “The story does exist. We are aware of the case. The part that was missing in the document is the signature of the depo manager. The driver has done what he was supposed to do and the depo manager has signed the document.
The person in question will definitely receive their documentation fully signed, with everything required latest on Wednesday (today, 10 August),”.
