POLICE in Gauteng have recovered more than 350 unlicensed firearms and 2443 various assorted rounds of ammunition over the past two weeks.

According to Colonel Dimakatso Sello, most of the firearms were recovered during ongoing crime prevention operations.

Sello also said the recovery process of the firearms was also elevated through searches and tip-offs received from members of the community.

“These firearms are believed to be used in the commission of serious and violent crimes and they will be subjected to ballistic testing,” Sello said.
