TWO alleged notorious gangsters chose to spend Christmas behind bars while they wait for their legal aid lawyer’s return from holiday.
Naughty Mashego (37) and Vincent Masango (35) appeared in the Bushbuckridge Magistrates Court on Monday, 12 December and will return to court on 17 January. They were not asked to plead to the three counts of possession of an unlicensed firearm, robbery with aggravating circumstances and attempted murder of a Mapulaneng Hospital doctor on Thursday, 8 December.

The doctor’s car was later recovered by the police with the wheels and other items stripped off. It was abandoned around Bushbuckridge.
Magistrate Ayesha Kikia asked the accused: “This matter falls under schedule six offence. Do you have a problem being in custody this whole Christmas as your lawyer from legal aid board says she won’t be available until 17 January?”
They replied: “We wish to spend Christmas in custody until our lawyer comes back on 17 January.”
