A 32-YEAR-OLD grandson who allegedly buried his gogo in a shallow grave in her yard at Tsheseng Village in QwaQwa, Free state is yet to face the music.
The body of the 88-year-old gogo was retrieved from the shallow grave on Thursday, 13 July. She was reported missing at Tsheseng Police Station a month ago.
Villagers found the grandson hiding in the mountains and he showed the police where he allegedly buried her when he was handed over to the cops. But it is not known whether the gogo was murdered before she was buried.
Gogo's younger brother (76) told Daily Sun his sister was being abused by a heartless grandson.
"My sister was killed for her Sassa grant. The grandson was violent and dangerous to everyone in the community. He denied us (family) and villagers to visit granny. He used to lock her in the house without food, cosmetics and other basic needs. He was earning granny's grant, but was not buying her food. We are hurt and devastated.

"We hope justice will prevail. We need to know what happened to our sister. We have a strong belief he killed her and is enjoying her grant. We took it light when people told us about his behaviour of stealing, housebreaking and robbing, unaware how cruel he is," he said.
Village Chief Makantoro Molaba said: "I was surprised when granny asked me for food. I once visited granny on pay day and she had no food, no money."
The grandson was charged with defeating the ends of justice and violation of a dead body.
Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said the post mortem report will reveal whether the gogo was murdered or not.
"We have successfully retrieved granny's body in a shallow grave. Post mortem investigations will reveal the cause of death," said Mophiring.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Tsheseng Magistrates Court on Monday, 17 July.
