TWO families from Bronville outside Welkom in the Free State have been embarrassed by thugs at one of the most crucial times in their lives on Wednesday, 13 December.
A man who was supposed to pay lobola for his live-in girlfriend and baby mama was shattered after heartless criminals forced entry into the couple's house and robbed them of an undisclosed amount of money.
Captain Stephen Thakeng said the couple and their child were asleep in their home in extension 18 Hani Park when the incident happened.
"The husband was awoken by a strange noise from outside and decided to wake up to find out what was happening. While in the kitchen, he could hear unknown people busy scratching from outside.

"The bottom wooden part of the door was forcibly opened and five men gained entrance, armed with three firearms and knives. They demanded cash and an undisclosed amount of cash, Samsung cellphones valued R4500, two bottles of Cognac valued R1200 were robbed," he said
Thakeng confirmed that the money was meant to pay for lobola.
"Residents are sternly warned not to keep large sums of cash in their homes, especially money for lobola, money to pay for the initiation to be a traditional healer and stokvel money. All these transactions must be done at the bank to curb these robberies," said Thakeng.
A case of robbery has been registered at Bronville cop shop for further investigations.
