FAMILY, friends and community members gathered at the Apostolic Faith Mission Church on Thursday, 25 January in Naledi, Soweto to bid farewell to Keeya Mbulawa(4).

Keeya tragically passed away after spending four days on life support in the hospital after she was allegedly poisoned, choked, and stuffed in a suitcase.

During the funeral service, it was revealed that when the doctors asked Keeya’s parents to switch off the life support machine, they refused because they didn’t want to live with the guilt.

It was also disclosed that on the day the little angel died, which was on 17 January, she looked as if she was recovering, and her heart rate was coming okay.

Speakers described her as a child who loved people and loved hugging people. That was her love language.

Reading a letter penned by her mother Nolukhanyo Mbulawo, Mivuyo Vakela said: “You were the most beautiful and loving daughter. My angel, I don’t know how to say goodbye to you. My comfort is that you are at peace now. I love you. Rest well, my angel.”

Keeya's gogo, Tshidi Serongoane, wrote a letter as well, stating: “I never expected you to leave me so soon. You confided your hopes and dreams to me, as young as you were. I miss praying and singing with you every morning and every night. I'll miss your favourite movies. I'll miss your hugs and your little hands holding me and telling me that you love me,”

Family spokesman Advocate Miller Moela said the suspect knew the child for two years.

“We are disappointed that she was killed by somebody who she knew and trusted,” he said.

Moela urged community members not to take matters into their own hands.

Keeya was born in 2019 in Knysna, Western Cape and then moved with her mother to Joburg where her life was cut short.

According to the family, she was a very inquisitive child, loving and smart.

Little Keeya was buried at Nasrec Cemetery on Thursday.
