A HORROR crash on the N3 highway between Harrismith and the Van Reenen's Pass in the Free State on Tuesday afternoon, 12 September claimed four lives and left nine people badly injured.
The crash involved two trucks and a bus which collided, instantly killing a truck driver and two passengers. The fourth person died later in hospital.
According to other motorists who witnessed the accident, the bus that was carrying approximately 45 passengers had broken down in the middle of the road. The truck driver the crashed into the back of the bus, sending the bus and truck flying into an oncoming truck which subsequently caught fire.

Police spokesman Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring has confirmed the fourth person died later at local a hospital while other nine passengers are admitted for medical treatment.
Mophiring said a case of culpable homicide case is being investigated.
By Tuesday evening, 12 September, the road was opened for traffic between Joburg and Durban to flow. The motorists had waited for hours for authorities to clear the road.

According other motorists who witnessed accident, Luvalo bus that was carrying approximate 45 passengers was broken in the middle of the road and the truck driver crashed at the back, they both crashed to oncoming truck and subsequently caught fire.
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring has confirmed that additional fourth person died later at local hospital while other nine passengers are admitted at local hospital for medical treatment.
Mophiring said the case of culpable homicide is being investigated.
