THE late former EFF member of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) Makhosini chabangu has been described as an uncompromised, fearless, constructive and decisive leader.
Chabangu's memorial service was held at the Bakoena ba Mopeli Royal house in Namahadi, QwaQwa in the Free State on Thursday, 14 December.
He died on Monday, 11 December following a kidney failure a few months after being recalled in the NCOP.
Chabangu had been a vocal member of the ANC for decades before joining the EFF. He served as a councillor in Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality many years ego. He was among the oldest fighters in the youth-dominated EFF.
EFF provincial secretary Malefane Msimanga said Chabangu was the one who formed the EFF Thabo Mofutsanyana region and recruited many party members.

"We need to celebrate the life of Chabangu to the fullest. He played his role as party member. He participated a lot in the development of municipalities. He was a straight talker. The leaders of his calibre are few," he said
His daughter Naomi Chabangu told Daily Sun her family had lost a father, husband and a patriotic South African who encouraged his children to love the country.
"My father was a family man. He loves his wife, children, siblings. My father was passionate about people lives, making sure all are well catered for. That's where his love of politics started to emerge. He represented the masses of the poor citizens. People know him as a member, while we know him as a leader of the Chabangu clan," she said
Chabangu will be laid to rest on Saturday, 16 December.
