Fisherman's gruesome discovery on the beach

accreditation

FISHERMAN found a decomposing body of a man with a bullet wound at Monwabisi Beach on Saturday afternoon, 3 December.

The body was found facing face-down on top of a hip of sand in the bushy area, near the beach.

“I went to relieve myself at the bush but was greeted by a body of a man. He was undressed from the top and his body was decomposing. The body could have been there for four days or so,” said the fisherman.

Beachgoers said they were unhappy because the beach had become a dumping site for bodies.

“I love this beach because it is close to my house, but I also have lost count of bodies that have been found here in the past few years. I think cops should be patrolling this area because it is getting out of hand,” said Mpho Mthombeni from Enkanini in Khayelitsha.

Another body of a man was found on 26 July at the same beach. In February, cops also found a body of a man with a stab wound at the beach.

In October 2021, a body of a 22-year-old woman was found near the beach, while a body of a 50-year-old man was also found in February 2021.

After the body was loaded inside the mortuary van, the van got stuck in the sand and spent almost an hour trying to find its way out.

Fishermen and other people assisted the driver and pushed the van out.
