THE Minister in the Presidency responsible for Electricity, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, said the Energy Action Plan seeks to resolve Mzansi's energy matters.
He briefed the media in Hatfield, Tshwane, on Tuesday, 9 January, on implementing the Energy Action Plan.
"Part of our commitment was to make sure that we keep the lights on during the festive season," he said.
The minister thanked the Eskom team for working hard during the festive season so that units remained in service.
He said he accepts that most units need to be more reliable.
"The system still remains unreliable, and we'll be working on these units," he said.
Ramokgopa said the system is unreliable, and he wants to flatten the curve to a lower level.

He further said sometimes one will see that load shedding is suspended until further notice because they don't have control over some of the units, which are still unreliable.
Ramokgopa said Unit 1 at Kusile had significant delays, and other developments were that of Unit 5 at Kusile, which is now synchronised as they are doing a number of tests and will go to full commercial operation for the average period of six months to conclude the tests.
"There's a lot to do, balancing and optimisation. In commercial operations is essentially giving us the megawatts uninterrupted to go into the future.
"We also ensure that the generation performs optimally to resolve the issue of load shedding," he said.
The head of generation at Eskom, Bheki Nxumalo, said there's no sabotage that he's aware of.
"We're dealing with the issues of technical and design nature and their shortcomings. We want to improve the issues of the plant in Kusile," he said.
