THE return of load shedding is not good news for businesses in Mzansi.
This is according to Rise Mzansi’s chief organiser Makashule Gana.
Gana said on Tuesday, 2 January, that the reactivation of load shedding was a reminder to Mzansi people that they have a government that is unable to guarantee the provision of the most basic services.
Eskom announced that it will implement stage 2 load shedding from 5am to 4pm on Tuesday, followed by stage 3 until 5am on Wednesday.
The power utility explained that there was a problem during maintenance work as three generating units did not come back online as expected.
Gana said not only will the economy be affected but also communities and households, especially in the evenings when the streets are plunged into darkness, further straining the resources of the police and security forces.

He blamed the African National Congress (ANC) for putting citizens in this dire situation.
He said: "Their political negligence has plunged the country into darkness and jeopardised the lives and livelihoods of all South Africans. This election year, we need to make choices that will, among other things, ensure that businesses can continue to operate, make profits and employ more people, and that our communities are safe through reliable and consistent electricity supply, among other things," he said.
