Christina Lebotsa said she was still in pain after she was hit by a horse last year September 2022.

CHRISTINA Lebotsa says she is lucky to be alive, even if she has to live with pain for the rest of her life.

This after the 68-year-old gogo from Etwatwa in Daveyton was hit by a horse as she was on her way to mourn the pastor from Apostolic Jerusalema.

Christina said she was walking with a church member and her daughter at about 8pm when two horses ran up to her and the other hit her, causing her to fall and suffer serious injuries.

She said the painful incident happened on 27 September 2022 in her area. According to Christina, the two security guards who were riding the horses were monitoring the railway line in the nearby kasi.

"The security guards who injured me were not remorseful because they just walked away and left me in agony," she said.

She said the horse, which was being ridden by one of the security guards, hit her and she hit the wall.

Christina said she sustained injuries to her ribs, spinal cord and back. She said she was thankful to a motorist who took her to Far East Hospital in Springs where she received medical attention the same day.

Christina said she was admitted to hospital for two weeks.

"I want compensation. The security guards were not riding horses at the railway line but in the kasi. If I had crossed the railway line, it would have been my fault, but I was far from it," she said.

She said that she was appealing for help so that she could be compensated for the injuries she has suffered.

Her daughter, Nelly Lebotsa (44) said her mother is always in pain since the incident.

"My mother has tried to get help, but all doors seem to be closed," she said.

Transnet Freight Rail head of communications and reputation management, Mary Papayya said: “On your query involving a Mrs Christina Lebotsa (68), TFR can confirm that this matter was neither reported to the TFR local depot security, nor the operations management or the Community Stakeholder Forum.

"But we can confirm that TFR security is looking into the matter. We understand that this is a painful situation and appeal to the family to make a proper report on the matter to the local police station. This will aid in the investigation."

Christina said she went to the police station but she allegedly received no help.

“When I told them my story about the incident, the police told me that they cannot open a case against a horse. But I will go back and this time I will ask for a station commander.”
