STAYING in one place makes gogos obese and sick.

To avoid this, gogo MaSello Rapule has formed a group to encourage gogos to "shake up" for better health.

The group from Bekkersdal, west of Joburg, has more than 15 gogos.

They walk, do gymnastics, and have fun together.

The group was started by elders from the Anglican Church of South Africa Diocese of Joburg (St Marys).

They've invited gogos from other churches in the area.

Gogos are doing all this to fight all sorts of chronic ailments.

Dressed in their sports outfit, MaSello said besides training, they also offer each other life skills.

"We also encourage each other to save up for rainy days. We don't want to see abogogo being chased by abomashonisa."

Gogo Lorna Molebatsi (66) said they also want to have a Facebook page to attract other gogos.

"We want to make this big and not to be our Bekkersdal thing. It's high time that we find ways to fight stress."

Gogo said they appeal to sponsors to help them start projects that will empower gogos and keep them busy.
