THREE of the 10 victims that were killed during the zama zamas protection fee fight have been buried.

The victims were laid to rest at Phumulani Cemetery in Etwatwa, Ekurhuleni.

The deceased victims were shot at a tavern in Daveyton last Saturday, 16 September. 

Brigadier Brenda Muridili of Gauteng police said police are hunting for the suspects. 

The murders sent shock waves in Daveyton with residents appealing to the end of zama zamas terror in their kasi.

The victims were allegedly killed as a result of zama zama kingpins fighting over protection fee.

One kingpin from Cloverdene had allegedly invaded the territory of kingpins in Qalabotsha.

According to some residents, the killers went on to hunt the Cloverdene kingpin and found him in a shack in Qalabotsha.

They shot and killed him and three more people who were with him in the shack.

After that, they went on to search for others and shot them at a tavern not far from the shack.

Innocent people, three of whom were firefighters based at Benoni Fire Station were killed in the process.

In total, 10 people were shot dead.
