SUPPORTING kids with their education and school trips is important.
This was revealed on Saturday, 9 September by parents from Petunia Moon Nursery and Pre-Primary in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni.
This as the pre-school organised a family Picnic at Rietvlei Farm in Alberton.
The principal, Sarah Nkosi, said the purpose of the trip was to welcome spring with a fun-filled family picnic and to give families an opportunity to spend quality time together.
She said: “Children should be exposed to such an environment at a young age where they will spend time with their parents away from home. We also encourage parents to support their kids. This is part of the family and team building by the parents and staff."
One of the parents, Kabelo Moloto, said parents can get involved in their child's education in a variety of ways, including helping with assignments, attending school events and teaching essential skills and traits needed throughout life.
“It's important for fathers to support such initiatives. In most cases, we always send our children to pre-school and don’t even ask about their progress,” he said.

Another parent, Samu Nhlengethwa said she was excited to be part of such a trip.
She said: “We want to thank the pre-school for organising the trip. This initiative creates a strong bond with the children and the teachers."
Another parent, Sipho Radebe said: “We as parents should play a role in our children's early development. The upbringing of children is crucial, especially when they are still young. The trip will help to expose our children to outdoor life and be able to socialise with other children away from the classroom.”
