THUGS saw him take out money to give to his girlfriend at a party on Saturday, 2 March.
When Eduardo Mozin left the party, three thugs were waiting for him outside and demanded their "share" of the cash.
But the 44-year-old refused, and he was assaulted with the back of a gun on his head.
Sharing his ordeal, Eduardo, who lives in Etwatwa, Ekurhuleni, said he took out R1 000 and gave his girlfriend R100 to buy drinks.
"I think they saw me when I put the rest of the money back in my pocket. There were many people at the party and couldn't know who was looking. I wasn't showing off," he said.
Eduardo, who sustained injuries to his head, said since the incident he now suffers bad headaches.
He said the incident has taught him not to show cash in public.
Residents said the same thugs also terrorise them. They want the police to arrest them before they took the law into their own hands.

"Many people are victims. These thugs keep boasting that nothing will happen to them," said a resident.
Community leader, Emily Stakwane said the teenage boys belong to a gang.
Ekurhuleni district police spokeswoman, Captain Nelda Sekgobela said a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm was opened at Etwatwa Police Station and the police are investigating.
The suspects are still on the run.
