THE EFF hosted a jazz hour concert at the Soweto Theatre on Thursday evening, 11 April.

EFF Gauteng media officer Dumisani Baleni said the festival was a successful fundraising programme and that it was sold out.

But when Daily Sun asked him how many R50 000 seats were sold, his answer wasn't clear.

“To be honest, I don't get the point of this. This was a fundraising event. I have never heard that this is how many seats were sold at a fundraising event. I don't know. I have never heard of fundraising being announced like that.

“That's the privilege of the EFF. That's what the EFF does. That is how things are done. I've attended many gala dinners and fundraising events. I've never heard them announcing. I would not know how many tickets were bought and which type were bought, but we had a sold-out event,” said Baleni.

“There were many celebrities there. Zola 7 was there, Dr Tumi and many others. So many people attended. Everyone chose to attend our programmes. We didn't give them special invitations. They choose to come. They notified us that they would be part of it, and they bought tickets just like everyone,” he said.
