THE state prosecutor told the court that Dr Tumelo Ntholeng was a flight risk and that he didn’t deserve to get bail.
This after Ntholeng’s lawyers couldn’t provide the court with the company’s name that he is working for.
He only stated that he works as a medical doctor outside of the borders of South Africa.
Magistrate Chris Kruger postponed the case to Friday, 26 April, for judgment as he asked for time to study all the arguments documents.
Dr Ntholeng's defence team requested bail for him and his cousin.
They argued that the only evidence against them was phone records, which they claimed proved their absence from the crime scene.
Additionally, they disputed the prosecution's assertion that Dr Ntholeng paid R32 000 for the alleged murder of Palesa Mofokeng, stating that the payment was for car repairs.
But the state prosecutor, Amukelani Rikhotso, argued that the bail hearing is not a mini-trial whereby evidence should be placed in court.

He said the state is waiting for police to hand over mobile link information and also the CCTV footage that will prove that Ntholeng and Makhanya were present when Palesa was shot dead.
Rikhotso argued that all four suspects should be denied bail due to providing the wrong residential addresses.
Ntholeng was deemed a flight risk since he didn't disclose his employer's name.
“Where will we find him, or who will we call if they say he is at work?
“Every day, illegal foreign nationals enter our country freely, so nothing will stop Ntholeng to do the same, as he has stated that he is an international medical doctor.
“It is going to be easy for him to leave the country without a passport. He is not getting his salary in South Africa, so releasing him will jeopardise this high-profile case," he said.
Rikhotso said Ntholeng had a motive to kill his ex-wife because he didn’t want to share his assets.
"That is why he contested the divorce that he started, not thinking the deceased would demand her shares, so he decided to kill her to take all the assets by himself. The fact that Ntholeng also attempted to claim the life insurance of Mofokeng just hours after she was killed, it’s proof enough that he had a motive to kill her,” he said.
Palesa was shot more than eight times on her way to work on 5 April, and later that day, her ex-husband, Dr Ntholeng and three other men were arrested for conspiracy to commit murder and murder changes.
