THE elderly people at Kopanong Senior Citizen Club in Mothutlung, North West received blankets and soccer balls from De Wildt Solar on Monday.
De Wildt Solar spent the day and cooked hearty meals for the elderly.
Community projects officer for De Wildt Solar, Julius Nong, said they aimed to make a difference in Mzansi.
He said they were impressed when they learnt that the gogos were active soccer players.
“The purpose of the programme was to recognise and show a token of appreciation to the elderly women for their dedication and achievements in sports, leading by example for the young generation,” he said.
He said they wanted to help them stay warm in this cold weather.
“We were also showing our support and care for the senior citizens in the community,” he said.
Ward Councillor Peter Mokau said the elderly invited him.

“The elders are very flexible and active. They play soccer and even do farming,” he said.
He said he was happy with the donations for the elders.
“What this company has done is so beautiful. I am so happy,” he said.
He said his wish is for young people to take from the elders.
“I would like the youth to be encouraged by what the elderly are doing even at their old age,” he said.
One of the gogos, Patricia Mahodi (68), said she was happy with her new blanket.
“The way I am so happy with this donation, I can see that the lord is with us,” she said.
Another gogo, Dorah Selaole (76), said young people should work out to have a long life.
