THOSE who invaded the RDP houses at Mckenzie Park in Nigel will soon feel the pinch of the law.
Ekurhuleni Human Settlement MMC Masele Madihlaba, said they are waiting for legal processes to be finalised.
Earlier in 2023, the Ekurhuleni Human Settlement department applied for a court order to have invaders evicted from the RDP houses at McKenzie Park.
But the invaders challenged the court order, and the matter is still to be heard.
"We can't allow people who are not on the database to jump those who have been approved," said Madihlaba.
The MMC was speaking at the Nelson Mandela's 67 minutes as they were painting houses to be occupied by people living with disabilities and elderly beneficiaries.
About 18 residents in the above categories are to benefit.
Lefa Mlangeni, who also lives with a disability is one of the people who will also benefit from the project.
Madihlaba was joined by Afrisam's Sibongile Miya, Ekurhuleni Mayor Sivuyile Ngodwana, Human Settlement HOD Dr Gilbert Motlatla, and Ekurhuleni official George Thamae, among others.
In Etwatwa, gogos Paulinah (82) and Maria Kodisang (87) were pampered by Joy Clinic by saw having their houses spring-cleaned.
Gogo Maria said they are happy for the special treatment they received from the staff.
