FUMING residents of Thobithini Village in Ngwavuma, northern KZN, are up in arms.
They are searching for a suspected serial rapist, who has allegedly been raping women in the area.
Their main suspect is a man who lives in the village and has apparently been on the run.
Angry villagers went to the suspect's home on Tuesday, 15 March, and tore down his shack.
The residents claimed he held a grade 12 pupil hostage three weeks ago and allegedly raped her for three days.
They alleged he tried to rape another matric 12 pupil last week, but she managed to escape.
Their last straw was when a gogo (73) was found murdered on Friday, 10 March.

It is reported that the said gogo went to the local community garden as usual.
When she didn't return home, her family got worried and called her.
The call was apparently answered by the suspect, who allegedly told them he was done with her.
He then allegedly told them where they would find her body.
Daily Sun called gogo’s relative, who said he couldn’t talk about such a sensitive matter on the phone.
The community police forum's deputy chairman, Joseph Ngubane, said tensions were high and the villagers had vowed to search for the man until they found him.
Joseph said when they went to the suspects' home on Tuesday, they found his parents who told them they were also tired of him.

Ward Councillor Sthembiso Mncwango said the villagers took matters into their own hands as they claimed cops were taking too long.
Suspect’s father (68) said: “I want nothing to do with him. He was also abusive to us. I want him to return home in a coffin.”
KZN police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Robert said the police in Ingwavuma have opened a case of murder after the body of a 73-year-old woman was found next to a river in the area on Friday.
“It is reported that the woman had gone to a garden but never returned. Investigations into the matter are ongoing,” he said.
