FISHERMEN found a lifeless body of a teenage girl floating on the dam in Seville Village.

The three young men were catching fish when they saw a half naked body floating on the dam in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga on Sunday, 12 March.

The fishermen then went to the village to alert their leadership who then called the cops.

Village assistant induna Simeon Mthabine told Daily Sun that they have managed to identify the girl.

"The teen girl (17) is a local grade 11 pupil at Manyangani High School at a nearby Utah Village. She girl was renting a room in the village, as she's originally from Phalaborwa in Limpopo," He said

Mthabine said the girl had been staying alone for a few days after her best friend who is her landlord's daughter got a better opportunity in Gauteng.

He said her phone was recovered on the floor of her room and some shoe print marks around the yard show that there was a fight the night before.

Her boyfriend whom she was last seen with that night claimed that he took her home after they spent time grooving at a local tavern.

"He said he left her in the room and doesn't know what happened afterwards. It appears she might have been killed elsewhere before her body thrown in the dam. So we are working with the police and her family until her killers are brought to book and face the mighty hand of law," he said.

Saddened School Governing Body member Thandi Mathebula confirmed that deceased girl was a grade 11 pupil at Manyangani High School and her family in Phalaborwa has been informed.
