THE self-proclaimed philanthropist Malcolm X (57) and three police officers, Desmond Campbell Kekana (52), James Mpho Sekhaolela (45), and Raymond Mphuwa Mokaile (38), are facing two counts of corruption, alternatively, and extortion.
They all appeared at the Alexandra Magistrates Court on Thursday, 26 October, were granted R10 000 bail, and will appear in court on Thursday, 23 November.
According to a police statement, this was done to avoid arrest by a complainant. During the court proceedings on their first appearance, the four accused stated in their affidavits that they didn't plead guilty.
They also stated that they needed bail as they have families and children to feed and mentioned that they are the sole providers of their families.
They all looked calm as they read their affidavits in court. The judge said the accused must not interfere with any witnesses, complainants' family or anyone related to them.
She said if there are certain allegations about you all, the complainants can call the police, and you will be taken back into custody.
In Westonaria, a case against an employee of Sibanye-Stillwater mine in Westonaria, Gauteng, who allegedly stabbed his colleague to death before taking a selfie next to the victim's body will return to court on Thursday, 23 November. The mineworker has been linked to the murder of his colleague on Thursday, 9 November, at the Leseding Hostel.
His matter will be going in for possible bail application as he now has a lawyer.
According to information gathered by Daily Sun, Lefafe and the victim allegedly had a historical conflict which dates back to June 2023.
While many described both colleagues as humble and good men, many were confused by their conflict, which allegedly turned physical.
Disgruntled by how the alleged assault had been handled at work, Lefafe allegedly took matters into his own hands earlier this month.
