TWO brothers were fatally shot at a liquor outlet in Mantakaleni Trust, Calcutta, Mpumalanga, on Friday, 23 February. 

Two other victims, a 35-year-old female and a 29-year-old male, are fighting for their lives in hospital. 

According to police spokesman Captain Magonseni Nkosi, unknown suspects approached the victims and opened fire. 

“It's alleged that the suspects also took a firearm from one of the deceased. 

"On police's arrival, the first victim was found next to the rear right wheel of his vehicle while his brother was found a few metres away from the vehicle,” he said.

Nkosi added that the brothers sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were declared dead on the scene by medical personnel. 

“The other two victims, a 35-year-old female, was shot in the thigh while a 29-year-old male was shot in the upper body. Both injured victims were rushed to the hospital, where they're currently receiving medical attention. 

“Twelve 9mm empty cartridge cases and one projectile were found on the scene. Police have since launched an investigation."

Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, condemned the attack and promised that the police will work round the clock to get perpetrators behind bars.
