MEMBERS of Madeira Police Station had a narrow escape on Sunday, 8 January, when they were attacked by an unknown man in the Community Service Centre in Mthatha.
They were on duty at the station when a man (31) stormed in wielding a knife, insulting and advancing towards them.
A struggle ensued, resulting in the fatal shooting of the suspect. The cops escaped unharmed.
Investigation revealed that shortly before the incident, the suspect stabbed his cousin, mother and another family member while robbing them of a handbag with money and cellphones. These were recovered.
