A COP who is charged with the murder of his heavily pregnant girlfriend is expected to apply for bail in the Ixopo Magistrates Court on Friday, 25 August.
Sergeant Mbuyiseni Gema (48) allegedly killed his girlfriend Busisiwe Ngubo (35), who was pregnant with triplets at eHlanzeni Village in Ixopo, south of KZN.
He allegedly strangled her to death, as there were marks on her neck.
On Monday, 21 August, Gema made his first appearance in the Ixopo Magistrates Court on a charge of murder.
During his first appearance, the court was packed to capacity as people wanted to express their anger towards the cop and protest outside the court so that he was not granted bail.
KZN MEC for Social Development Nonhlanhla Khoza also attended the matter in court.

Mayor of Ubuhlebezwe Local Municipality, Councillor Thobile Ngubo and Mayor of Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Local Municipality, Councillor Sindi Msomi, were among the people who joined MEC Khoza to support the deceased's family.
MEC Khoza said: "We are very happy with the collaborative effort between the public and law enforcement agencies in arresting the suspect. We cannot afford to see women continue to be killed like this."
She further pleaded with the communities to continue supporting the Ngubo family as Gema will reappear for bail on Friday, 25 August.
The National Prosecution Authority (NPA) regional spokeswoman KZN Division Natasha Ramkisson-Kara said the case was remanded to Friday, 25 August, for a formal bail application.
"The state will oppose the application," said Ramkisson-Kara.
