AN ELECTRONICS factory has burnt down in Ga-Rankuwa, Tshwane on Sunday, 20 August 2023 at around 6.37pm.
Tshwane Emergency Services spokesman deputy chief Charles Mabaso said they responded to a factory on fire in zone 14 in the industrial area.
He said multiple units of SVA electronics were engulfed by flames.
"Two fire engines, two water tankers and an aerial ladder truck were dispatched to the incident to help contain and fight the blaze," he said.
Mabaso further said the two water tankers had to shuttle water for firefighting operations because of the absence of fire hydrants nearby the factory.
"Firefighters and factory workers had to move multiple 25 kilogram bags of polypropylene and drums of methyl ketone to safety to avoid catching fire," he said.

However, it has not been determined what other flammable and combustible chemicals were in the factory when around 20 units of SVA Electronics were gutted by the blaze.
Mabaso said firefighters managed to contain and control the blaze, even though firefighting operations continued throughout the night until Monday morning.
"The cost of the damages has not yet been qualified and no injuries were recorded. The cause of the fire is still a subject of investigation," he said.
Some residents in Ga-Rankuwa said the fire was too big, and they were thankful it didn't kill anyone.
A resident, Reuben Mathebula said: "It's a great big loss to the company and we hope it will be fixed fast so that workers continue with their daily work."
Linda Nkoana said that he saw a smoke and he could smell chemicals.
