CONVICTED murderer Velly Thwala has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
He was sentenced by the Mbombela High Court on Thursday, 7 March.
The 39-year-old was found guilty on the same day for the murder of her 19-year-old lover, Nontobeko Msithini.
In February 2023, Thwala assaulted the deceased with a knobkerrie and later stuffed her body in a bag.
The shocking discovery was made by community members who had noticed blood dripping from the bag Thwala was carrying using a trolley.
When community members cornered him, he said he was going to dispose the carcass of his troublesome Pitbull.
Community members forced him to open the bag and made the shocking discovery.

Thwala had denied killing Msithini and claimed that the deceased was killed by her ex-lover who wanted to spite him.
On Thursday, 7 March, the accused brought in a witness who was supposed to testify in his favour. However, the witness, Derrick De Beer dispelled Thwala's version and told the court that he doesn't know the accused and had never had a conversation with him.
"You must stop making up stories, don't involve me in this matter. I know nothing about this case," De Beer said.
Handing down sentence, Judge Henk Roelofse said the accused has proven that he is the one who killed Msithini and did not show any remorse.
"Femicide is a serious crime that must be stopped in any manner. Women must be protected. There's no exceptional circumstances to deviate from the minimum sentence. You didn't show any bit of remorse for your wrongdoing," he said.
Philile Sifundza, who is the aunt of the deceased, said she was happy that finally the matter was over.
"We're happy that finally justice has prevailed. We don't want to see him back in the community. He hurt us a lot. We can't bring back our loved one, but the sentence gives us closure," she said.
